Politics Is Important And It Is Important That The Public Participate In It.
Politics are about power. Like the organization’s hierarchy, budget authority or seniority, politics is just another of the workplace’s many power systems. Politics are unclean, but necessary, and it is work people do knowing they are held in contempt (or at best low esteem) by many people. I’ve talked with certain government people, who have come across as genuinely concerned listeners, trying to do the greatest good they can. Politics are strictly disallowed as criteria for hiring at Yale. But academics are human.
It’s a big topic on Twitter just like they are on social networks, forums and chat rooms. Hopefully, they don’t have as many flame wars on Twitter as web forums have. Politics are always embedded inside technologies. Sometimes the politics are obvious, while sometimes they are subtle. Politics are very egotistical, and manifests through the individuals or whatever. When you just look at it, it’s a whole lot of unnecessary confusion, in a whole lot of ways, when we are trying to express our truths.
Developing a new politics involves overcoming the limitations of certain versions of modern politics and postmodern identity politics in order to develop a politics of alliance and solidarity equal to the challenges of the coming millennium. Development, here, involves climbing the ladder by technological upgrading and adapting the institutional practices of successful upwardly mobile states, such as the Newly Industrialized Countries (NICs).

Religion doesn’t fall neatly into Right and Left categories. If there were ever candidates running with a strong set of personal moral values and a commitment social justice and peace, it could build many bridges to the other side.
